Healing My Heart After the Loss of My Pet; Now with Three Cats

Just two years after losing my beloved dog Brighette Marie, my heart was filled with love three times over—this time for cats. Here is how they came into my life.

Let me introduce Max (a.k.a. Maximiliano). My husband brought him home after rescuing him at work; I fell in love with "Maxito," took him to the vet for vaccinations and an ID tag, and that was that. Max is a white cat with yellow tiger-like stripes.

Six months later, I rescued a mother cat who had just given birth. I rescued her along with the kittens and adopted the mother—her name is Mishi—while her kittens found forever homes. Mishi is a black "mini-panther" (a Bombay cat).

Another six months later, I rescued a kitten that had been abandoned at my husband's workplace. I fell in love with him, too; his name is Miko Piccolino Picasso.

Miko is a Tuxedo cat—a breed sometimes called "Huskies" because they act like dogs, and it’s true! Miko is always by my side; he follows me around and constantly seeks my attention, whereas Max and Mishi are more aloof.

Sometimes I think Miko is Brighette; they are both black and white, and Miko is very attached to me, just as Brighette was.

If you like, you can join Brighette Marie’s Facebook page, where I post photos of my cats and Brighette.

My heart is full of love and so happy with my new pets!
